Bred by Horsemen. Backed by Results.
Family-run and rider-built, founded by James and Ollie Salerno.
James and Ollie Salerno don’t just breed horses—they ride them, rely on them, and build them from the ground up. What started in the saddle at El Questro Station has grown into a performance breeding program with a clear focus: to produce horses with feel, cow sense, and the kind of brain you want in any paddock or arena.
With a background in station work, campdrafting, and hands-on horsemanship, James and Oli breed horses that do more than carry a name. These are animals selected for purpose—calm in the camp, sharp on a beast, and a pleasure to train.
At Salerno Stud, you’ll find carefully chosen progeny of some of the greatest Quarter Horses of all, including Hazelwood Conman, Kirkbys Stud Refine, Seligman Spin, and Docs Spinifex—names known for producing horses with superior athleticism, trainability, and grit. But we don’t just breed for bloodlines. We breed for good horses. Horses that make the job easier, not harder.
Whether you’re chasing a draft prospect, a future broodmare, or a gelding that just gets it, you’ll find horses here that are bred to last—and bred by people who know what it takes.
“This is what I want to do, and this is what I’m going to do. It’s something I love… and I can’t think of a better place to live.” – James Salerno
